An Asthmatic in India/Swimming in Rishikesh
Hello,
Due to asthma, I've had to leave Pune, India, to return to Bangkok. However, I would like to return to India, but to find a city which is less polluted, and also, not as hot. Could somebody please go through this list, and tell me which cities are not so polluted: Polluted/Hot on a Scare of 1-10 1) Hyderabad 2) Bangalore 3) Mysore 4) Belgaum 5) Chennai 6) Dehradun Also, does anybody know if there are swimming pools in Rishikesh? Thanks a lot for your help Max |

Chennai - hot and polluted
Mysore and Bangalore are on a plateau at a hight of about 1000 metres above sea level, although still polluted the climate is pleasant (for India) all year round.

d'dun & rishikesh are the 2 smaller towns in your list(if u add r-kesh). So pollution wise they tend to be better. Both Rishikesh town and dehradun are small dusty and polluted, however all u have to do is head about a kilometer out and u have some excellent spots, pristine, fresh and beautiful. Asthama would depend on what allergy triggers it off more for you. I know of a very nice place in dehradun located just at the foothills and they have a website... Krishnaguesthouse.tripod.com. Check it out.
Upstream rishikesh there are some realllyyy, really really great river rafting camps, that are great to stay, and u don't have to river raft! Located just on the river bank silver sand beaches they are something. You can swim here, and well i don't know of any swim pools myself though. Dehradun i think is only 50 KM away from rishikesh. |

Remind me to avoid Pune if the air pollution there is worse than Bangkok!! Now, do you have to be in a city because there are lots of lovely small villages and towns in Himachal Pradesh that you could consider.

i agree with maree......if u wanna aviod pollution aviod the congestion of the city and go to a hill station or evan just outside the city would be cleaner air
i think this would be the same all over the world.......big cities are more polluted than the countryside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!1

Excuse me,
DUST: DUST is the problem. Not the pollution, but the dust. Which city has less dust? Thank you. |
