There's a really good search tool on this site, but as you've got toothache I've looked for you.
There are some recommendations in this thread, good luck getting it sorted soon. |

You can go to one of the popular hospitals such as Apollo hospital, Max hospital or Fortis hospital.

Just been reading the threads for dentists again, they seem to be recommended by people with Indian names attached.Always abit suspicious if it's someone trying to get business out there.Would like to hear from someone Western who has been to a good dentist out there as I'm concerned about standards and hygiene.

Hang on, are you still in the UK?
If you are, I would seriously consider getting it sorted before you leave, I know it's expensive here and NHS dentist can be hard to find but I know from personal experience that flying can really aggravate toothache. It may be the change in pressure. Only have my own experience to go by, but when I had an abcess, my dentist wasn't able to do the root canal work I needed, until after a course of antibiotics. In case you have something similar, it might be worth going for an assessment and emergency treatment, even if you can't afford the actual work. That way you'll be ready to be treated as soon as you arrive in Delhi. |

The reason I've been in pain for months is I seriously can't afford it here as have to pay private and on a very low wage,I need I'm sure 2 root canals and a possible crown and other fillings. This could cost me close to £2000.If I go here I may aswell kiss good-bye to my holiday.

Even if you had to pay, it would not cost you very much to have the root canals and fillings done with an NHG dentist. According to the NHS Dentistry FAQ the most you'll pay in a two month period of having fillings, root canals and extractions is only £44.60. The maximum price for a set of crowns, fillings, root canals and bridges is £198. Now I don't know what a dentist in Delhi will charge, but if you're after someone that the expats use it's likely to be towards the top of the range for India. It might be worth having at least the fillings and root canal work done in the UK. Can anyone give an idea of what root canals and / or fillings have cost them in India? Umm, that is unfortunate. Indians are more likely to know a good dentist in India than Western 'names' (I could choose a western sounding name on indiamike, as an example.) I agree, though, about getting (or starting to get) treatment at home to make things easier. |

I'm on £2-£2.50 an hour gross and lose 30% of this to deductions(yes it's legal I've checked) I'm a live-in carer but because I am literally working/on duty 24/7 as I live with the client I clear £280-£300 PW and probably lose a 1/4 of that as have to pay for travel between clients, so they won't even consider me but they don't see how many hours I do for this money,I already got the forms.NHS is impossible,I even checked with the UK dental association who just threw those forms at me.
After being kept 'captive' for over a year you can see why I need a few months breather! ![]() |

Apologies if I appear to be steering you towards UK treatment, rather than providing information about Delhi, which is what you were seeking! |

Have contacted the Primary Care Trust,I have to ring up on the morning to see if I can get an appointment which isn't possible to do with my job as have to make plans but I tried it hoping it will fit in to my 2 hours off a day. They then told me cos it's not my permanant residence they don't do it anyway.I have no base and move all around the country every few weeks.
I get paid this cos although I work through an agency, the clients pays private so there is no minimum wage or rites, sick pay or holiday pay.The government's got the whole situation sussed to their benefit ! |

You really should not be having to pay for dental treatment at all, if that is your wage level. Your hard earned cash should be spent on much more fun things than that! If you have no luck with your primary healthcare trust it might be worth trying to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau about your problems getting the dental treatment you already pay for through your National Insurance contributions. The CAB provides free confidential and independent advice, they could also advise about minimum wage if you're interested. |

I am an American expat here and I went to Dr.Khoshla's clinic based on the recommendation on the other thread and I thought the service and facilities were good. I've only gone for cleanings and fillings and x-rays and stuff, so I've been seen by his technicians, but if you have a dental problem, you can say you want to be seen only by Dr. Khosla. He's an orthodontist, actually, I believe.
PhoneNo. +91-11-26106382 Good luck. |
