AYURVEDA - ART OF BEING
Another Page with the list of the ayurvedic doctors. Another Page with some PDF files. PDF with some adresses I never took ayurvedic treatment myself (being healthy and all) but this documentary is really an eye opener about the ancient art of living that is Ayurveda.

I didn't have the time to say why I liked that documentary so much.
A famous Indian guru once said that the ancient Indian sages achieved greatness by constant experimentation. This is exactly the spirit thatt this documentary conveys. One could expect that the practitioners od such ancient art like Ayurveda would be more or less frozen in some inflexible traditions. It is anything but true. This documentary showed how the most respected Ayurvedic doctors in India are constantly researching, constantly redefining their knowledge and themselves, and how the spirit of Ayurveda is one of life, one of a living discipline, an art of life that is a living art. Personally I was particularly moved because I recognised that spirit so well, not belonging to the medical field myself but constantly researching and redefinding my own field. I felt such great personal sympathy, not only for some of the great people who were shown, but also for all those great explorers of the past whose intelligence, dedication, intuition and imagination are amazing. Watching this documentary, one is left with a feeling that there is a depht, a vast treasure of ancient and poorly understood knowledge in Ayurveda that humanity should be careful to preserve and study. If you ever get hepatitus A, check out an Ayurvedic doctor ASAP! Western medicine can do nothing, but both Ayurvedic and Tibetan medicines work great for hep-A. (not sure about other types of hep). The BF got it in Nepal and went to see Dr. Mana (?), an Ayurvedic doc in KTM. BF was yellow as can be, but had more energy than I did! He didn't spend a single day in bed. I've heard similar stories about folks with hep-A seeing a Tibetan doc. Which isn't so suprising since Tibetan medicine is in many ways quite similar to Ayurvedic.
