330.00 for Twinrix vaccination (Hep a and c I think)

It was either the Hep A and C or B that are combined. It is 105.00 per shot and you need 3!!!!! I just got my second one yesterday and I couldn't believe it!!! Anyone else pay this much or was I the only sucker???????? I go for my last one in March. My last bill was 262.00 and then I had to pay 116.00 yesterday. They charge 11.00 just to give the stupid thing. I could have taken the needle and jabbed myself for 11 bucks! Anyone in the US pay this?

Twinrix is a combination of Hep A & B. The San Francisco Department of Public Health charges $85 for each of 3 injections -- $255.

It's worth it; once you've had hepatitis, your liver is never the same.

I'll second the latter. My brother in law caught it and he was shaky in status for a month and weak for at least a year..

Hep B isn't just sexually transmitted. It's transmitted in blood, blood products, saliva etc. - therefore it could be spread through unclean needles, acupuncture, body-piercing, tattooing etc. When I worked in the NHS I was offered the vaccine in case a client chose to bite me! I declined it!

I only had Hep A when I went to India (which just cost the regular prescription charge of about £6.95). I don't think Hep B is free here though either?? and is it necessary/recommended for India?

$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm in the middle of getting my vaccinations too, and I'm in sticker shock. Although I don't have to get any Hep shots (have already had them), I've been persuaded (suckered?!!) into getting the Rabies vaccination - 3 shots at $105 (Canadian) each. The Japanese encephalitis vaccination is even more expensive at $110 for each of three shots.

Thumbs down

Gurnami

That really is overkill. This is not the India of the 60's and 70's. Think you'll find that no-one on this site has contracted rabies or Jap enchephalitis.

If you're really concerned I think maybe a Hep A shot is prudent. Otherwise dont bother unless you are going to a region where there is an identified outbreak
