When to travel with kids and more...

I can go to Gujarat either November or April.. In November my daughter (has been to India 3 times) will be 8 my boy 8 months...Is it better to wait till my baby is 12 mths old in low season or will the heat knock him out in which case it might be better to go at a milder time of the year. I and my daughter handle heat well having lived in Australian desert several years..I think it might also be better to base ourselves in in 4 different towns (1 week each) doing day trips as from experience not fun doing heaps of train trips with young one.Any suggestions for 4 nice towns? Never done it but might be good to hire car and driver - what am I looking at per kilometre? I've been to India 5 times so not a total newby..

Weather will be definately pleasant in November and best time to travel in Gujarat. I had a similar situation like yours. My daughter was eight and my twin boys were six months old. We rented a 20 seater bus and went around all temples in Gujarat for 12 days. No problem with boys at all. We packed their baby food from US and gave them spring water(Aquafina...which was boiled, cooled, and then refilled the bottels). Our second Journey was six months later in July 2005 and no problem what so ever with boys then also. Our only trouble was plane ride and that too because of Air India. Avoid to fly them at any cost as they'll seat your whole family a part(We all got seats 10 isles from each other, rude unconcerned staff and spoiled our trip before it even started)

Four Places in Gujarat I would recommend:

Ahmedabad...Modehra, Patan
Junagadh....Somnath/Dwarka
Kutch.......Wild life
Mt. Abu(On the bordering side of Rajasthan)...Hill Station

About the rental of Vehicle....I'm paying about Rs. 2700/day for AC Toyota Innova for 12 days Himachal Trip. You can expect about Rs. 10 per km(minimum per day would be 250-300 Kms).
