just got back to this web thing after a spell .... and registered here....so after mike told us that he cares for diu a lot.. would be good to hear more and just why he likes it so much.
The jardin d'hoka restaurant in diu is great and so is the ice cream at Ram vijay.. not only that the the ram vijay guys are real nice guys too.....i know i've been there....but what else makes diu so special. I mean compare it to some other places in india for example goa, gokarna, kerala et al., And where is a ggggooood place to stay in diu.

For me I find it just a good place to kick back. We reported alot from there mainly because it was where myself and some other members of the forum met up.
I like it because it's a mixture of local tourists and foreign tourists, and there are no hassles or people bothering you. Also the first time I went to Diu a few years ago, it was after traveling through Gujrat for a few months or so. I was really worn down and living off of thalis, and Diu was like an oasis from it all.
There are money other places in India which are alot better, but personally I just like it. And like many places in India, it is what you make of it.

For a good place to stay, it depends on your budget. Backpackers tend to head towards Jay Shankars place (salt water showers) or rent a room in one of the churchs.
Personally, I have no budget (I'm raking in all the money from this website) and I always stay at the Hotel Samrat. It's a little pricey, and I do believe a room for two is 600 rupees. I am just a single so I only pay 300 rupees for the same room. It's a good hotel and you get what you pay for, everyday the room gets cleaned, the sheets are changed on the beds, and fresh towels and soap. Also Color Tv, Hot Blazing shower, etc..etc...
The manager there, Mahantesh (mispel, I know) is a good guy and has run the hotel for years and knows how a proper hotel should be.
