Trip to Somnath and Dwarka

Hi All,

I live in Anand Gujarat.My parents are coming from Bihar to be with me for few days.I have been recently posted to Gujarat and dont have much idea about the place.I want to take my parents to Somnath and Dwarka over the weekend.Is it possible to cover both the places in two days. My tenative schedule is as follows
1.Leave for Dwarka/Somnath from anand on Friday evening
2.Reach Dwarka/Somnath have Darshan stay
3.Go for Somanth/Dwarka next day have darshan and return in night

Queries
1.Please guide me as to how can I make this trip economical yet comfortable
2.I dont seem to find Buses plying to dwarka/Somnath from Anand.I tried GSRTC but they are also showing Buses from Ahmedabad.
3.Dont have reservations in Trains

Please guide me the best way to reach Dwarka/Somnath
Which way to plan th e trip and which place to go first
Details of Hotels to stay and places of religious significance to visit.

Kindly be swift in your replies as i have to plan my trip this weekend only.Looking forward to some fruitful suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Anand to Dwarka is about 500 km. Its a long distance. You are better off taking a train as it will be comfortable especially for your parents. Dwarka to Somnath is about 250 km and can be covered by Bus / Taxi depending on your budget.

Its almost a triangle tour between Anand, Somnath and Dwarka so which destination you pick first doesnt matter. You can take an overnight train on Friday and reach Dwarka the next day. Complete the darshan and by noon / evening leave for Somnath. Overnight in Somnath. Many places around to stay for the night. You can try and look up for Safari Hotel & Resort in Somnath. Next day complete your darshan in Somnath and leave for Anand the same day by train.

There is a very short waiting list in saurashtra exp on 14/10/ train no 19215.very bright chances of them getting confirmed.take train from anand and reach porbandar ,from there you can take a cab and visit dwarka and also gadhijis birth place in porbandar.for accomdation many guest house of trust are available ,You will get them in plenty.
many private and govt.buses are available from porbander to veraval[somnath],its agood 6hr journey so take the night bus and you will reach somnath early morng .here also loads of rooms available by various trust.
