Tribal villags of Kutch
First off....thanks to all who post. Been reading this site for about 3 weeks now. Very helpful info...for 1st timers to India like me.
Going to Gujarat in late December or early January and would like to visit some tribal villages in the north of the state. Has anyone done this. Which were your favorite villages and how did you go about to get there? Thanks. Marty |

Hi,
Welcome to Indiamike! You can visit Bhuj in Kutch region of Gujarat. There are quite a lot of villages around Bhuj/Mandavi. The nearest railway stations are Bhuj and Gandhidham (60 km). Anindya

YukonMarty,
I was there last February. The best tribal villages are on the road from Bhuj to Khavda the gate of The Great Rann of Kutch. To visit some of the villages you need a permission from the " Collector's Office " it takes 15 minutes only. In my opinion the most interesting villages are Hodka and Dhordo on the west side of the road, also Bhirendiara and Ludia on the esat side. Best way to go is by car as there is very few bus service between Bhuj and this villages. I attach some pics taked there. Jorge |
