Ahmedabad to Palitana - According to the LP there is a travel agent in Ahmedabad (New Limba Travels) that can arrange a bus directly to Palitana (4 1/2 Hours / 120Rs). Other wise you will probably have to go to Bhavnagar (bus or there is a train) and then onto Palitana (bus I guess). Palitana to Diu. Need to go through Una. LP doesn't describe this as a comfortable trip via bus. Diu to Junagadh. Bus going to Una first. 3+5 hours. Junagadh to Bhuj. Looks like you would need to go through Rajkot or Jamnagar. I considered this route when I was hoping to get to Bhuj but I gave up the idea. So I am really not sure what the best route between thee is. I thought someone mentioned a ferry across the bay between Dwarka (or somewhere on that coast across toward Bhuj but I couldn't figure it out. I don't know if you are leaving Dwarka out but it was strongly recommended to me. Oh yeah, at Sasan Gir you can go on a Lion safari which sounds very interesting to me. | |

| All I can tell you is I did Ahmedabad-Bhuj-Jamnagar-Junagadh-Diu-A'bad and it wasn't any problem. Just ask around locally and you'll be on your way. (This was not recently btw. And mishaps notwithstanding of course. When the bus A'bad-Bhuj in the middle of the night was full, sure enough us whiteys were whisked on by the drivers themselves & given the front seats. ... Not being overly optimistic, Ahmedabad at least as a mere stop-over place can be a real hell-hole of general confusion and mayhem I found, I've been through there on several occasions. Will check out the town a next time as I hear it has its merits and it certainly deserves it after all my cursing. Anyway, being stuck there with absolutely no transport mode to anywhere whatsoever, period, is not out of the question I think. Then again that brought us to the bus ride described above I think. There's usually a way out. If we hadn't been taken along we'd have been stuck there for the night at least. It probably wouldn't have killed us, we might have discovered the town instead.) Quote:

| Did the bus trip from Bhuj to Jamnagar. Most of it was pretty good but but one stretch was very slow going ( you think you are making good time till you hit this little road then it seems to take a couple of hours to go a very short distance...). Train from Ahmedabad to Bhuj was good and if I remember correctly there is a train connection between Bhuj and Rajkot. Rajkot seemed to have connections to many places in Gujurat. From what I could gather there are no ferries between Dwarka area and Mandvi coast...it sure would have been nice though! |

| Last February have been moving around Gujarat during one month. I have always moved by bus or sleepingbus with the exception of Junagadh - Diu (Uma/Delwada) by a very slow toy train. Jorge |
