Train to Una

I am planning to visit Diu in August. Is it wise, monsoon-wise?

Secondly, about this toy train to Una (from Junagarh?).
I would like to know the timings and facilities on this train i.e. the classes, and rush it gets, traveller experiences. Since we will be travelling with a baby.
Thanks

Some of the metre gauge lines from Junagarh have been closed, you are best to go to Veraval.

Get a bus to Diu from Veraval (about 2 hours).

The trains from Ahmedabad get to Veraval at 06:15 and 17:10, the only direct train from Veraval to Una/Delvada departs at 16:20.*

There is a train from Veraval to Talala at 09:35 (arriving at 10:13), then a train from Talala to Una at 11:00 (arriving at 13:01).*

*I can't be sure if the metre gauge lines (Veraval-Talala-Una) are being converted to broad gauge at the moment, if they are still operational, they will be converted soon.

My train (about 4 years ago) arrived at Veraval late, so I got the train to Talana then the train to Una, the train to Una was crowded but interesting, it also seemed painfully slow, both trains had unreserved 2nd class only.

The Rickshaw gangsters at Una were awful, only allowing us to use a certain rickshaw who was charging stupid prices, I didn't know there was a main road just around the corner from the station, a rickshaw from there would have been better.

EDITED to add, I didn't realise you're location was Amdevad, and added the info below before realising, I'll leave it there for others.

Are you going to Mumbai from Diu?
(there is a direct flight)

An interesting way to go would be via Palitana (interesting place, search on net for info), a bus from Diu to Palitana will take 4 hours, then....

Train 2972 departs Sihor Jn daily at 21:06 and gets to Bandra (Mumbai) at 10:30 (2A, 3A, SL.)

Sihor is about 22kms from Palitana, there used to be a little train connecting the 2 places, but I don't know if the train still runs or if it was timed to connect with the Bandra train.
