To Diu or not to Diu?

Okay folks - thanks for all your advice. We were really glad we made it down to Diu; we were totally charmed by its easygoing atmosphere and quiet beaches. Here are my thoughts:

There are now several private bus companies running buses between Amdavad and Diu although the road is fairly bumpy in places.
Don't stay at Jay Shankar's near Jallandar beach. It's dirty and run-down, it's only plus point being its location.
When we were there in late January, hotel rooms were heavily discounted. Check out the rooms in town at places like Apana (Rs300 for a double with balcony overlooking the sea), Alishan for its gaudy, bizarre decor and Samrat.
See if the room at Heranca Goesa is available. Rs 250 for a large, spotlessly clean room with bathroom alongside the family's home - it's behind the Diu Museum. They also do yummy food.
Eat ice cream at Ram Vijay's.
Be aware of the early afternoon siesta around town!
