taxi late night from Ahmadabad airport to Anand?

Would I be able to get a taxi even late night from Ahamadabad air port to Anand?

Any one has recently travelled to Anand any experience. We are planning to go there in spring 2008. We don't speak Hindi or Gujarti. We planning to be in Anand for a week or so and take day trips from there.

You could search around some on the forum for the town name. There's this previous thread, which may help you: New to board, Travelling to India: Ahmedabad, Anand. But do look around for other threads.

Note that for looking for Ahmedabad, you may have to spell it that way or Ahmadabad and then some, as evidenced by your post itself. Anyway looking for Anand would probably be the better bet.

I am certain you will get taxis for Ananad from Ahmedabad airport. Since you dont speak Hindi/Gujrati, you should ask a policeman for help (preferably a senior policeman).

Arriving by Singapore Airlines ? (Thats the only International late night arrival I can think of).

I traveled from Ahmedabad to Anand from the Airport, Last February and there are *ALWAYS* Taxi's available.

From memory, I paid 1500Rs (Which also covers the Taxi to return to Ahmedabad), and *SHOULD* cover the Toll on the Freeway.

May I just ask..., are you going to Anand, for "Medical" reasons ?

Relatively, Ahmedabd is one of the safest cities in India. No issues about cabs, you'd get cabs 24 X 7 from the airport. You can manage with English though Hindi would help. Like someone suggested, talk to a cop at the airport, or if you need pick up etc., PM me, I know the scene there.

White B - how was you trip to Anand? Would you reccomend the hotel you stayed at? Any info would be helpful.

I'll be flying from New York to New Delhi as I have my family there & then travel to Anand.

You should have no problem finding a taxi there as we arrived and departed late at night via Emirates (though other flights came in after us) and there were always a trillion people outside the airport and many of them taxi's.

Its pretty crazy there at night. Probably pretty usual for India though, with jet lag I found it daunting. At first it did not appear that way and then whoa! But outside the airport at 3 AM there were a lot of people including those offering taxis and I clearly don't speak the language. Maybe have someone write down directions to where you want to go in Anand in Gujarati and then be able to show it to a taxi driver. That would probably help.
