Tarnetar Fair

Hi, can somebody please tell me if they have ever been to the Tarnetar Fair?
How easy or difficult is it for a foreigner to get budget accomodation in Tarnetar during the perdiod of the fair? Is it an event not visited by many foreign tourists in comparison to the more famous festivals/fairs (off the beaten track so to say)? Any relevant information would be greatly appreciated as I am really interested in seeing it this September.
Thanks in advance!

It's famous enough to receive all of 1.5 short paragraphs in the '93 LP so I'd say just go and be the first to tell us all about it! Sorry, no info on acco whatsoever, in my book that's a plus but it may arguably lead to awkward surprises, or pleasant ones for that matter. Seriously, an Indian festival with thousands of people and you the middle of attention can be difficult, but if you're game for it it can be an adventure.

Ive visited Tarnetar about 10 years ago so the memories are vague. I have visited Pushkar, Nagaur, Baneshwar Fairs but I would hesitate to compare or rate the experiences. The reason to visit these traditional fairs is that you get to see the locals in their finery, going about having fun. There are always the merry-go-rounds, the giant wheels which they were at Tarnetar also. But the highlight is always the people and at each place they are different. So if youre lucky enough to be in the area, dont miss the show. Tarnetar (and Baneshwar) are two places where you will get to see the Bhils, the old pre-Aryan tribes.
