Somnath Temple

Dear friends,

My parents staying in Vapi are planning to visit Somnath Temple in Gujerat during March. I would be grateful if you can put some light on the following queries.

1. Which train they can take from Vapi. I have heard that the temple is near to Veraval Railway station. Is there a direct train from Vapi to Veraval. If no other options or connecting trains they can take.

2. Other places of interests near Somnath temple.

I was there in December/January. There is no direct train from Vapi to Veraval as far as I know. I took the Shatabdi from Vapi to Ahmedabad and then the Somnath Express from Ahmedabad to Veraval.
The Somnath Exp. comes from somewhere in North India, which is not obvious as its name changes to Somnath Exp. only in Ahmedabad. Anyway, due to the fog in North India the train arrived 5 hours late in Ahmedabad and consequently left 5 hours late (3a.m. instead of 10p.m.) - but this shouldn't be a problem in March. The train trip as such was OK.

Places near Somnath: Depends on how you define "near". The Sasan Gir wildlife sanctuary is not all that far away but requires more than just a day trip.
