Silvassa info
After checking out noflylist's silvassa photos it has got me interested in exploring that part of india. So im gathering info on the basics
What is the best way to reach silvassa from mumbai ? Whats are the good hotels to stay in? What are the cons you have faced along the way? What is the best food to order there? For eg in lonar dal chappati was the easiest thing those guys could cook up . What are the stuff off the beaten path one could explore. Is transport easily available there? How much does it cost for the boat ride on the lake? How many days should one give that place to thoroughly explore that place? Thanks Cheers Navin

I will go over point by point on Silvassa.
Weather moderate, people laid back, friendly. Prices reasonable. What is the best way to reach silvassa from mumbai ? Mumbai, take a train to Vapi, Shatabdi also stops there. 4 hours by train. When you get down, check the platform and get out on Silvassa side, not the Daman side. If less luggage, take rickshaw to Silvassa, which is in union territorry of Dadra and Nagarhaveli. Rickshaw should cost you 100 to 150 depending on your negotiating skills. Whats are the good hotels to stay in? Three hotels: Kamat's resort (we stayed there), Rasresort, checkout http://www.rasresorts.com and Damanganga valley resort try http://damangangaresort.com All three are near each other and good. What are the cons you have faced along the way? I enjoyed every moment in Silvassa What is the best food to order there? Resort restaurants are top quality and food menu is similar to status, samrat, cream center in Mumbai What are the stuff off the beaten path one could explore. Tribal cultural meusium is good education. Also can visit Daman beach as a day trip. Is transport easily available there? Yes. Rickshaws, also your hotel can arrange a taxi as a day tour, very reasonable. It cost us 700 for 5 hour tour of attractions near Silvassa. How much does it cost for the boat ride on the lake? 100 on shikara, cheaper on other boats. How many days should one give that place to thoroughly explore that place? Give atleast2 days, 3 better to relax and enjoy the place. My only regret is I did not walk around downtown Silvassa and enjoy local restaurants, looked interesting. We took all our meals in resort. |

Gujarat express leaves Mumbai Central @ 5.45 AM & reaches Vapi @ around 8.45 AM. Shatabdi reaches around 15 - 30 mins. earlier.
