sasan gir

I'm looking for information about Sasan Gir.
I'm going to visit Gir in 2 weeks
Hotel, I've made reservation with strongly suggests to make a booking for safari tour as soon as possible( 4000 rupies per person in a jeep ).
Is it really necessary?
I would rather shop around once I arrive.
What do you think?
Is park very crowded in November?
Are there any roads better than other for seeing lions.
Can private cars drive into park?
I'm going to be there only one day so I want to maximize my chance to see lions

hi.. i have booked myself into the club mahindra resort at gir.. i will be visiting it in the end of november.. from what i have found out the hotel offers the safari @3000 per jeep.. i am looking for more info myself.. i asked a few friends and someone told me they were charged 2000 per jeep..

i dont think there is anywhere to shop around there.. you might have to visit jungadh or maybe somnath for the same..

someone did mention that lions are sighted in the evening tour.. (there r 2 timings.. morning 6 30 and afternoon around 3).. do let me know if you come across any information.. i need it too..

I've been to Gir last November and had no problem with jeep safari without booking.

Been to Sasan gir on 5th and 6th. Heavy rush due to Diwali holidays.
Two trips in morning 6.30am and 9.30 am and one trip in the afternoon 3pm.
50 vehicle permits in each trip granted.( Total 150 vehicle permits )
You have to provide ID proof and have to pay for the Driver and guide Rs.100. vehicles are available at the gate.

We were 6 in a group and paid 250/- per head and Rs.100 for the camera having more than 7.1 mega pix ( If it is below 7 mega pix. then no camera charges )

There is another park where you can see lions for sure.
Devalia Park is just 7 Kms. away from Sasan Gir having only 10 lions (as against 411 in Sassan but luck need to be with you.) We took that ride also paying 165 Rs.each for AC bus

We were lucky enough to sight two lioness crossing the road just in front of us.

We also witnessed a dinner party of Royal family with the cubs. Eight of them were sharing their prey a nilgai or blue bull.

Wichy where did you book your safari? Was it booked in advance?
