Hi!
I want to have a short getaway from Mumbai for about two-three days and plan to explore Saputara rather than go to the tried and tested Khandala-Lonavala-Mahabaleshwar! I may visit sometime in the last week of May.
I tried the tourism website but didn't get much info on that place. Could anybody please give me a rough idea as to what to expect there and which are some economical options of staying- some of the hotels are way too expensive and I'm not willing to spend that much on a short weekend!
I'll be going from Mumbai. Is reaching Saputara via Surat the best option for me? Also, some guidance on the bus service from Surat would be really helpful.

Waiting for your replies!

hi,
saputara in may is not at all a good option.
this place is best visited during monsoon and post monsoon months. In monsoon you will be able to see lush greet forests and falls.
In summer temperature is quite high and you wont get feel of hill station there. Lake in saputara in summer will also be dried and dirty with barren forest and hot climate.
we are regularly going there in monsoon month and after..
its small lazy place worth exploring by foot.
there are many govt. and private vehicles available from surat, distance is 197 km.
but best option from bombay is to take road from vapi to vansada, it will cut short time.
on the way to saputara you may visit vansada national park, botanical garden, gira falls. In saputara you may visit lake and surroundings, sunset point, ropeway, sunrise point, table top point near hotel vaity. beyond saputara, there is nice road and landscape to nashik is saptashrungi, you may visit mahal forest( purna wildlife sanctuary), 50 km distance.

When going gets tough, tough get going
