Newbie Questions in Ahmedabad

Hi all,

I'm an architecture student researching regional housing throughout India, and just hit Ahmedabad today to start my stint in the pols of the old city. An architecture firm here is generously loaning me their guest house for the couple months I could be here - but that means I essentially got dropped in the middle of town without a clue, or even a good map. (!)

The apartment is right off CG Road and "Panchavati Char Rasta." (I don't even know what that means; someone just told me that! I SWEAR I'm not usually this moronic.) Anyway, three questions:

1. Any advice for finding groceries if I'm right off CG Road? (Basically, just get an auto and go somewhere else?)
2. Anyone know of a good gym?
3. Anybody up for a coffee?

I'd like to meet some friendly faces in town.

Hi Cailin,

Welcome to IM and Welcome to Ahmedabad

For grocery shopping, just take a walk off Panchwati Char rasta ( meaning Panchwati Cross Roads

and head off to Ambawadi Gam. Wont take more than 10mins walking

fwiw - Gam means village

Wonderful gym in satalite area a bit out of your area but definely worth the travel----Studio de Physique in the Dev Arc Mall

well Cailin, you are in the heart of the city as far as daily requirements are concerned. You can find good number of restaurants, grocery stores and malls around Panchavati cross roads.

i don't know personally about gym near your place but this one looks like nearby your place...

Panchavati circle is like one end of C G road and stadium circle is like another end. So it is not far even if you want to move daily...
