Just wondering if anyone has an Idea of the price I can expect to pay from Ahmedabad Airport to Anand by Taxi.

I am arriving next saturday night, Estimated landing at 22:30.

Time is getting on...., only one week to go now....

Passport and Visa are in Order.

I realise this may a little to late but...
I don’t like Anand or Ahmedabad, i suggest you stay in Baroda(Vadodara) Anand is near to Vadodara than Ahmedabad and better in my opinion. Plenty of decent hotels and some great restaurants there as well, try near Sayajigunj(near station and bus station), or Alka puri. there are lots of travel places where your hotel or you can arrange a cheap day car to anand with a driver, or (catch a bus) this is based on per KM but have minimum day allowance so this will be cheaper from Baroda.
For more info: http://www.baroda-online.com/hotels.html
http://www.vadodarayellowpages.net/
http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-4854...n5PJvKv iphQB

Also great for shopping. If you stay in decent hotels they will get beer as well! Or get the passport stamped at the airport for liquor licence, so you can buy from some shops in baroda,(hotel express)
And if you get a chance see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavagadh

i did this for a friend that went to baroda for the first time....

Restaurants: Alka(veg try the big dosa), New Alka Restaurant, Sandip Apt, RC Dutt Road, Alkapuri 332315
most hotels, woodlands(south indian), ask at the hotel for more info on non-veg, pizza hut- try very cheap and good
remember no drinks(spirit/beer) in restaurants- take duty free drink first then go eat!, must try authentic Gujarati Thali (unllimited-keeps coming for afixed price) go near station and ask for kansar -must do this one and try everything and be prepared to sleep, (100 ruppe+80 if you have desert-skip)
Kansar, 10, Unique Trade Centre, Sayajigunj Vadodara tel:362596
and try veg chinese food in india, much more tastier.
Snacks: "Payal"good place to buy chevda (farsan) take some home, must have dhokla, samosa, gota, etc taste alittle before buying, most will offer.

cinema: INOX, very clean make sure what you take with you, security over the top.

shopping: in alkapuri - lots of ladies boutiques (price££) do between 4-8
go to town take a riksha- around 50rupee bus 10rupee, go to teen darwaja or Mandvi, get off at teen darwaja(3 gates) take a left turn and just follow the shops or ask for what you are looking for. time 8-12 very busy so take care with money. good in the early evening as well.
I propose you get a small cotton shoulder bag and put this in your shirt, if the hotel has safe facility use it for passports, dont take them around everywhere with you if you can help it.
when shopping take time, look every inch of the product(no returns) if you are buying sari, know you material and go by material, colour, print and then check, ask to put to one side and see more, they will always show you stuff they are trying to get rid off first, so keep looking, I have spend easily 2-3 hours in one shop.
Take and buy bottle water only, Aquafina is my choise of water, cheap coke and pepsi (10rupee), try Limca- dont have ice and if you have juice check what they are serving in, i would ask them to PACK the juice and have in hotel later (they will put in a bag.
remember most people are up by 6 and sleep by 11 some people call restaurants hotels so if you are asking ask e.g.hotel Alka?

Most will charge by KM for long journey, since the airport is way out of town, they will not haggle too much because they have got you by the ba** especially at night, get the price fixed. However the road to Anand they can avoid going in to Amdavad(this is how it is said in gujrati).
They will ask for money upfront some time to put the fuel in so be careful if it is an reallly old banger it may breakdown and you wont get your money back. so pay half. i rememer doing amdavad airport to baroda (approx 100km) 4 years back for around 800rup,
fuel cost has gone up so expect to pay same for Anand.
Also remember the taxi driver will not know your address in anand so get that sorted.
Nadiad is half way from baroda to amdavad and anand is roughly half way between nadiad and baroda. so anand is very close to baroda(vadodara)

No idea of the name of the village I visited near to Anand, I stayed in a village called Pij, about 9kms south of Nadiad.

If it was Pij and going by tradition, Pij being 5 gam, then it was probably one of the rest of 5 gam, i.e.
Nar
Ode
Sunav
Uttersanda
see the patel gaam list

Go ahead and arrange a taxi for your first visit, worth it. Buses are confusing.

People in Gujarat where you are going are very friendly, so if you have positive vibe, you will be helped everywhere.

I would book 1 day at first online and then see how things are in hotel and then make further arrangements

Thanks for both of your posts KPNUTS.

Yeah I have already booked my accomodation, Savshanti in Anand.

http://www.savshantihotels.com/anandamclub/index.htm
And as for the address, Chickhodra Crossing NH 8, Chikhodra 388 320

I am flying to Ahmedabad because all the airlines only fly there. From what i understand, Vadodara is a DOMESTIC terminal, and all the flights go into Ahmedabad or Mumbai. and at 10pm or 11pm local time, I dont want to have to deal with local flights as well. And considering the primary place I am going for is in Anand, well, I opted for accomodation in Anand.

The Taxi, well i hope they are able to fuel up themselves, depending on how much extra they want, I'll be PRE-PAYING.
