Little Ran, Salt Pans

Hello

I am wanting to get down to Little Rann and would like to get in to the salt pans and see the people who work them. Can anyone give me advice about what is the best way to go about this? Do you need to get permits to do this?

Thanks

A

We've visited the Little Rann of Kutch a couple of times from the town of Dhrangadra on its southern side.

A naturalist by the name of Devjibhai Dhamecha lives there and takes people out into the Little Rann in his jeep - he's an authority on all aspects of the Rann, especially the wildlife which he has spent many years photographing. He also provides accommodation in his home.

The phone numbers I have for him are 02754-280560
Portable 98255-48090 but these are a couple of years old.

Forgot to mention that you need to buy a permit from the Forest Dept office before proceeding out onto the Little Rann of Kutch.

Hello Kay and welcome to indiamike.com

Alan has not been online for a couple of weeks, he may be on holiday, send him a private message and he will receive it as soon as he logs on, though I'd also be interested in his reply.
