Kutch, Gir & Diu - advice needed

Starting 24th Jan - I'll be Gujarat based out of Gandhidham (Kandla). I plan to visit Gir & Diu and also photograph flamingos and the wild asses.

While my Gir & Diu plans are being worked out by my local contacts, I need help with the other bit. Which would be the best place to spot the flamingos and the asses? Is this the right season for the birds?

I've been recommended Nal Sarovar & Narayan Sarovar - but both are in opposite directions. Where to head?

No sure about the flamingos but I've seen a few asses in Ahmedabad. Check drivers on CG rd. about 5:30pm.that's usually where I see the most.

For the asses, you'll have to go to the little rann of kutch. Very nearby if you are still in Gandhidham. You can enter from Adesar and move inside the Rann. Check my photolink for a view of the Rann.

Narayan Sarovar is nearer to Gandhidham. Am not too sure of bird sightings though. As far as i remember, its a small pond next to the temple.

Bird sightings will definitely be there at Nal Sarovar.

Since you are in Kutch, visit Mandvi beach, its very nice and also there's a small lake in the town, which has migratory birds.
