I have visited both Idar and Taranga. Idar is a small hill and you can reach at top by a car. Not very difficult to reach. Hill is full of huge rocks and boulders. Taranga is in middle of a jungle. It has been about ten years since I visited Taranga. I liked it better than Idar. They say that you can not move around on road during night as Tigers visit this place sometime.

Welcome to IM - I think you just set a new record for responding to an old thread - it's an 8 year old thread
Thanks for the update on Taranga though - I'm half Jain and looking to visit at some point of time. There's a shuttle train from Ahd as well is what I've found.

Thank you Klompen - unfortunately I couldn't view it (I'm still at work) - serves me right to do this surreptitiously - will check from home.
Oh wow..a thread on Taranga/Idar!! More inputs please.
well, inside the taranga hill temple, there is a small door which leads to the inside of the summit of temple (i could not find a better word!). Inside it is filled with wooden slabs supporting the whole temple. it is said that the wood is of special variety and whenever someone try to burn it, water oozes from inside and extinguish the fire! i have seen the wooden slabs which have supported the temple since last 900 years, but no one was allowed to check whether water actually oozes (obviously)! the door stay closed most of the times, and on special request only management opens it and comes with you to show you around!
