IDEA PLEASE! 4-day COOL break around Ahmedabad in May'09
I want to take a short break of 4 days (1-4 May'09)with family (including 2 kids of 11 & 14.) I am based in Ahmedabad and have a car. Looking for a COOL place to visit, considering that it will be hot in most part of the state or in Rajasthan.
Inviting your suggestions for a destination. Thanks & regards. Musafir. |

You can try Mount Abu [Gujarat-Rajasthan Border] which should be 5-6 hrs drive.
Else Saputara hills near Maharashtra border - 7-8 hrs drive. |

please check the link:
http://gujenvfor.gswan.gov.in/wildli...nctuaries.html both are protected forests. both are situated near pavagadh hills. Jambughoda palace is one good place to stay there. jambughoda sanctuary has two lakes. forest resthouse and palace are situated just beside the lakes. http://www.jambughoda.com/ ratan mahal sanctuary is quite small one and so i guess it will not be fun to visit it this time of year. i advice to go there in monsoon. and also ratan mahal got very good waterfalls. so monsoon will be best for waterfalls too. you can stay at forest resthouse in ratan mahal. there are some designated camping ares too. |

Thanks Mind Chariot for introducing me to these places, I would like to know
whether vehicles are available at Jambughoda for safari trips in the forest. Also, is it frequented by tourists or a secluded place? How good is the accommodation in terms of basic facilities, hygiene, service and food? Cost of acco.? Booking procedure? Any excursions? Have a nice day. Musafir |

Kumbhalgarh nr Udaipur is also a good option (height 1100 meters) so should be 4-5 degrees cooler than plains.

well you can take your own car in the forest to see the places around. the place is not frequenter by tourist like a tourist destination but you can find some families in weekends and all. jambughoda palace hotel offers its own guide for the forest so it will be nice. and there are big lakes in jambughoda so its nice just to sit on the shore with family.
