Hello all,

my wife and I will go to Gujarat for 2 weeks in March (our plane lands in Bombay on March 8). I think we will go straight to Bhuj by plane, and then make our way back to Bombay by trains and buses.

I have already pestered Alan D. with my questions, but any advice is welcome ;-)

We are more or less planning on going to Bhuj, Dhraghendhra (and the little Rann of Khutchch), Dwarka, Diu, Palitana. Plus stop over places as necessary ;-) Does this make sense? A piece of (good) advice would help us...

We don't know yet where we will be for Holi - but since I read that things can get quite nasty on this day, what place would you recommend to spend Holi? What about Diu?

i think you could see all the places on your list in two weeks.

however, you could spend more time in each if you left out either Dwarka or Palitana.

the train line from Ahmedabad to Veraval is closed for broad gauge conversion at the moment.

do you know you can get a plane from Diu to mumbai (daily, depart about 11:00 AM)

holi is great fun in India, 99.99 % of Indian people thoroughly enjoy holi and welcome tourists to join in, only a few tourists in the big cities have bad experiences, if only we could say the same for new years eve in europe, enjoy it.

if you are woried, Diu has more chance (though vertualy none) of hassle as Diu serves alcahol, the rest of Gujarat does not.

but once again, i must say there is no real chance of getting any hassle.
