Post Gujarat in 2 and a half weeks

Hi,

I just recently decided to spend an extra month in India and I am interested in exploring Gujarat. The only problem is we arrive in India in August. Firstly, will the monsoon season affect my plans in Gujaret? If not, can anyone suggest must-see places to go to?

Thanks so much for your help

Hi Simsy,
It will be handy for all members if you make it clear how you want to adept this in your current plan.
If this is still your itinerary the best option is:
Udaipur to Abu Road
Train to Mehsana to visit Patan and Modhera
Next to Ahmedabad

From here it depends on your interests for instance
Bhuj + the Rann of Kutch or
coastal places like Diu

From Ahmedabad there is a train to Kota/Bundi

Hi vonkla,

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I feel really silly not writing our current plan. At the moment, we will be flying into Delhi, then going to Mumbai for Janmashtami festival, then to Pune for a few days. So then we will be looking at going to Gujarat from Pune, so probably looking at going to Ahmedabad first and doing a trip from there to visit Akshardham temple, then onto Mehsana for Patan and Modhera, then Udaipur and doing a trip from Udaipur to Mount Abu, then back to Delhi. It's actually more looking like we will only have a week and a half in Gujarat now, so I was just wondering if this will be enough time to visit the places mentioned above, and if there are any other places worth visiting during monsoon season? Thanks so much for your help

I think that 10 days will be sufficient to visit all these places. You could stop first in Vadodara and visit Champaner from there. This is an old town with ancient mosques and a Hindu sanctuary on top of the hill.

I don't have any ideas about the monsoon.

Hi,

it dosent rain like UK in Gujarat. its light rain and easily predictable before hour.

i can suggest place according to your interest. anyway, it seems you are entering from south of gujarat.

you can visit saputara mountain, waghai (botonical garden & honey farming), diu-daman beach.

Visit baroda, there is laxmi vilas palace. it is rarely known among locals but its well maintained.

ahemedabad is busy city. mostly known for commercial and cultural place. visit gandhi ashram.
you must try food at gordhan thal, vishala.
No profit no loss cafe "seva cafe" on c.g road, ahmedabad.

there is famous architecture miracle "step well" in adalaj, near ahmedabad.

akshardham temple which is in gandhinagar, asia's green city. you can enjoy biking if you can manage to have one.

there is tri-mandir on the way: truly magnificent spiritual knowledge regardless religion.

there is asia's only lion sanctury in junagadh( 365 km away from ahmedabad). dharoi dam built over narmada river.

you can hire a taxi for week. its only rs.6 per km and may be some daily charge.
if you allow me some time, i can help you with tailor made plan for you. happy to help
