I want to get a train from Nadiad to Pij.

Is this train still operational?

Do you know the time the train departs Nadiad?

How do I purchase a ticket for this train?

hi !!

sorry as I am not able to find exact info', but, the train does'nt seem to be operational. However, there are number of other more comfortable ways to travel to pij like bus and cab.

tell me if you need some more info.

Sorry, my reply was a warped attempt at humour as I was sure the thread would be deleted.

I got the train about 3 years ago, and as far as I know the line is still operational. (a couple of weeks ago I viewed a list of gauge conversion projects for Gujarat, and this line wasn't included).

It's a narrow gauge line to Petlad, the first stop after Nadiad is Pij, the train has old wooden carriages and departs Nadiad at about 09:00 (even though the timetable has different times).

For tickets, you go to the narrow gauge side of the Nadiad station (opposite side from main entrance) and look for the ticket window, the window opens about 30 minutes before the train departs, a very shocked woman sold me a ticket for a tiny amount of money (can't remember the exact cost).

At other times, turn right outside the main station entrance and walk to the tunnel that goes under the railway line (about 200 metres), there you will find auto rickshaws from Pij, although they're normal autos, they operate as shared autos and wait till they have enough people for the 11kms journey to Pij.
