Hi Shark

There's no catch at all !
Let me explain.......
I'm a 40 y/o Indian male civil services ie government officer posted at Rajkot for more than a year now, living by myself in this huge British built bungalow. There are several rooms to spare.

I've travelled to several countries and like travellers in general. Love music, reading, tennis. Find little company here and so thought it might be a good idea to have people over.

You're welcome with your family. You can relax and catch your breath at Rajkot and carry on to the marvellous places around.

Cheers !
Amitabh

Whereis Rajkot?

Hey Girlions,
where is Rajkot? I am planning a trip this winter. I would like to travel around Gujarat during the first two weeks of Jan. Any suggestions for places not to miss?

Places around Rajkot

Hi !

Rajkot is at the heart of Saurashtra region which has a coastline on three sides and minor ports developing fast. Pleasant weather in winter.

You could go from Rajkot to Junagarh city where apart from the interesting architechture there's Girnar hillock where you climb 10,000 steps to get to the top and from 6,000 steps onwards you have amazing old Jain temples.
You can drive on further to Sasan Gir Asiatic lion sanctuary and spend a night in the forest. From there Diu beaches are just 3 hours away or you could go to Somnath for a darshan and then along the coast to Porbandar (birthplace of Gandhi) and on to Dwarka (the old capital of Lord Krishna).

The Palitana complex of Jain temples is also amazing, 4 hours by road to the south east of Rajkot.

So it depends on what you care to see.

Not too sure what happened to the original poster, but I doubt if IM is the place for this..

For those who are interested, I would recommend sites like hospitalityclub.com and couchsurfing.com.. Those are specialist sites where you can check upon previous traveller experience and then choose your host diligently.

I agree with you, Sudheer. Some Indians do take foreigners for a ride and it is always wiser to check credentials before accepting something like this. By the way, I like your website. Good pics of yr daughter(?)
