Hey Arun,

I live in Ahmedabad. We went to dwarka and somnath just in May 2011(2 months back).

Somnath:
We started from Somnath and we stay there at Somnath Trust Guest house... Lilawati Guest House... Very neat and clean place, walking distance from Somnath main temple. Tariff is also low and they offer Good vegetarian meals in their canteen at very nominal price. There are also some good resorts but little away from the main temple.

Dwarka:
At Dwarka, we stayed at hotel Damaji. A little expensive but very good hotel to stay at. Good parking space. Good room service. Neat and clear rooms. You will face difficulty to get nice place to eat at Dwarka as there not much good options are available as Somnath. Light house is the best place to go after main temple.

Nageshwar:
Just 1.5hrs drive from Dwarka. Lord Shiva Temple.

Hope above information helps...

Please do share your experience.

Hi, from bangalore it will be cheaper to fly into Ahmedabad. Taka a vehicle to Dwarka (night 1), Darshan at Dwarka and Nageshwar and reach Somnath (night 2), Darshan at Somnath and go to the Gir National Park for the asiatic lions (night 3), take one or two Safaris and reach Ahmedabd. Fly back or stay for a day in Ahmedabad. After mid October and before mid march is best. Avoid holidays and weekends!

Best Time is: November to February (Winter season).

Flying from B'lore to Ahmedabad will save you a lot of time. If number of persons exceeds 4-5, then it's better to hire a cab.

Your Iternary should be:

Day 0: Depart B'lore by Train / Air. Train to Ahmedabad (ADI): Ajmer/Jodhpur express at 21:55

Day 1: In Train.

Day 2: Arrival at Ahmedabad at 8:00 a.m. Refresh. Ahmedabad sight seeing. Board Train to Veraval at 22:00

Day 3: Arrival at Veraval at 6:00 a.m. Proceed to Somnath by road (30 min). Halt at Somnath. Sight seeing.

Day 4: Proceed to Dwarka by bus. GSRTC bus at 6:30 a.m. Reaches Dwarka at 1:00 p.m. Refresh. Visit Nageswar Jyotirling, Bet dwarka etc.. Halt at Dwarka.

Day 5: Visit Dwarkadish temple. Proceed to Ahmedabad by night bus. Arrival at A'bad at 7:00 a.m. Refresh. Proceed to B'lore by air / train. Train at 14:55.

Day 6: In train

Day 7: Arrival at B'lore at 5:00 a.m.

Note: If you can spare another 2-3 days, you can also cover Porbander, Harshad mata temple, Madhavpur, Gir national park, Rajkot, Junagadh etc.. The route will be: B'lore --> Ahmedabad --> Rajkot --> Junagadh -->Gir --> Veraval --> Diu --> Veraval --> Madhavpur --> Harshad mata temple --> Porbandar --> Dwarka --> Nageswar temple --> Dwarka --> Rajkot --> Ahmedabad --> Bangalore

Hi Brahmareddy,

You visiting first in Dwaraka. You can spent one day and night there and can see Bhet Dwaraka, Nageshvara temple and Dwarakadeesh temple(lord krishna temple) which is in Dwarka. Then you can visit to Somnath. All places are so good, you can spend time according to your vacations.

How to book rooms at "Somnath Trust Guest house... Lilawati Guest House" ? What are its tariff? Do they have any online booking facility?
A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.
