Busy in January

Want to spend 4-5 weeks in Gujarat in January. Will I have problems with accomodation or will this only apply at beaches? Any Hotels $10Aus or under please let me know. Last year allowed myself a splurge at a palace hotel in Orccha. It was great and around $40 for 1 night. Anything similar in Gujarat? Atmospheric?

You should not have any problems with accomodation in Gujarat. It is a high season for visitors in Gujarat. You will get to enjoy people flying kites on the 14th and 15th of January the most. Not sure about the conversion rate for AUS but you can get decent hotels for 400 to 500 rupees per day. Do you have any idea what part of Gujarat do you want to visit?

The weather is nice. People are very warm and friendly.

The accomadation should not be that bad. Some of the holy places you can stay at a ashram free of charge and/or with low fees. I will be going to Gujarat late December to early January. Lot of NRI's go back to Gujarat during that time period because of the weather, and Christmas vacation.

I haven't been to Diu yet! So, don't know the hotel rates or anything. Most of other places shouldn't be that bad. Rajkot, Dwarka, Porbander, Somnath, Ahmdabad, Baroda, Gandhinagar, Pavagadh and other places have good reasonable hotel rates.
