Post Bombay to Ahmedabad - Moving for over 2 years. a few Qs

Hey all!
Firstly, cool forum, been lurking for a while and really enjoyed the posts and discussions here.

I'm moving to ahmedabad from bombay with my company. I've lived in Bombay all my life, and while I know it's going to be difficult for me to move there, the answers to a few questions will help me a lot.

A - Gudang Garam
I smoke, a lot. the only brand I smoke is the Indonesian kretek cigarette, Gudang Garam. These are available at every paanwalla in maharashtra, but I asked at a couple of places on my last visit to A'bad and they didn't seem to have them in stock, do they sell this cigarette there? if yes, which areas am I most likely to be able to buy them?

B - Booze.
Not much of a drinker here, but I do like to booze occassionally and I've heard that If I have a Bombay Driver's license, I am entitled to drink at most star hotels, is this true?

C - Food and smoke
Besides hookah joints, are there any places where I can smoke and drink at the same time? I saw no open-air coffee-days or gourmet restaurants on my last visit that had an ash-tray on the table. I can't eat out without a smoke to keep the food company.

Thanks for all the replies gang!

Hi Pranav,

The ciggie would be available at most of the good pan shops....

drink, again depends on your company how easily they are able to find a "supplier", though this is strictly illegal.

You can enquire about permits from your poison shop in mumbai itself. Am sure somebody there itself would be able to help you out.

As most of the posh rest. are air conditioned, they do not allow for smoking and eating. However, most have lobbies where you can go and have a smoke and restart your meal...

Open air rest would not have any problems in allowing you to smoke alongwith your meal..

Hope that helped...
