Bhuj-What to do?

What is there to spend 2-3 days in Bhuj?
Local sight-seeing?.
How far are beaches from the Bhuj Town?
If one prefers beaches, is it necesaary to stay at some beach resort or is it possible to commute from Bhuj Town?
Thanks.
Also any ideas as to the liveliness of beaches during Christmas period?. We dont prefer to visit entirely deserted beaches.

Hm. There's this recent and inconclusive thread on Christmas and beaches there: What to expect in Diu on Christmas

Bhuj is by no means anywhere near to any beaches, although they can probably be reached in a day's time or so. Being from Ahmedabad, I'm a little surprised you wouldn't know this. Just look up any map, try http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/maps/all_india.htm for starters.

Apart from Diu, there may be other beaches under development and closer by though. They'd still not be very nearby I think.

I didnt mean the Diu beach. I meant the Mandvi beach near Bhuj.
I dont know exactly but I believe it is 60-70 kms frm Bhuj and I wanted to know if one must stay at some beach resort or it is convenient to commute from Bhuj (there being convenient and sufficient public transport between the two places)

We were in Bhuj last march. From there we went to Mandvi, with a car it is about an hour. We were at the beach at ten in the morning and it was quiet then. Since we are no beach lovers we made a short walk by the sea and went on to see other things.
Within a few days I will write more about it in my travel journal
