Most likely not - and am still researching my own Kutch / Girnar / Palitana trip for this year. By train seems the best option by public transport - connect in Viramgam....

As per this there was a sleeper bus from Bhuj to Junagadh in 2006 or 2007. I think it will be a long journey.
Vaibhav, you could send a PM to Jorge Reverter.

Thanks Aarosh
Coming that way so many years ago, we went Bhuj-Jamnagar-Junagadh, don't ask me whether either stretch by bus or train, or how long for each, can't remember (but probably neither were crazy long, or at least that's not what I recall. Then again we were somewhat younger and may have had different standards as to what comprises a "long" or comfortable journey
) And that was just because we wanted to visit Jamnagar... Looking at a map though, seems like not a bad route for it.

Bhuj-Jamnagar-Junagarh is a longer option though there are direct buses from bhuj to jamnagar.
I prefer to do it bhuj-morbi/wakaner-junagarh, there are state transport buses http://www.locationtracker.com/webresponse/Default.aspx
I guess we can't book anything in advance.

@ Sapna - you don't have to change twice. You can go on 19116 till VG arriving at 03:53 and then 19005 (Saurashtra mail) departing VG at 06:30. It's long and uncomfortable due to the 2.5 hour middle of the night halt at Viramgam. Pls check erail.in.
p.s @ aarosh - I pm'd Jorge - he didn't remember how he did it except that it wasn't comfortable

Yes Vaibhav, you are correct. This is the only option available in case you want to travel by train. Or else go for bus or some private vehicle till Viramgam.
I suppose there should not be much of problem during this 2.5 hrs wait in the dawn

Thanks Jatin. Not to hijack this thread but do you know if Palitana and Junagadh are well connected by good, deluxe buses and if so, which travel company, etc? GSRTC, it seems provides services only from Bhavnagar which means I have to backtrack 50 kms.

It's by public transport from Ahmedabad (where I arrive by long distance train) -> Palitana -> Junagadh ->Sasan Gir-> Veraval (for Somnath)-> to Jamnagar / Dwarka -> Ahmedabad. I'm having trouble figuring out the Palitana-Junagadh part - good with the rest. I've dropped Kutch for this trip due to time constraints / distance involved.
Vaibhav @ We did our trip in end November - beginning December.
We have checked every where when we were in Bhuj. There is one bus from Bhuj to Junagarh (It is actually Bhuj to Somnath) at 9.30 PM everyday and reaches Junagarh around 4.30 AM. You have to book a day of two minimum in advance to get booking because we found that they run full all the time. Its AC, sleeper and sitting but sleeper was full for all the dates we checked, infect we noted people have booked even one month in advance. The tour operator is "Somnath Travel" on Chhatthi Bari Ring Rd near Near S.T. Bus Station. Small office but they are quite popular and you can locate easily.

Thanks for the update Sapna - helpful information there. I ended up changing directions completely and went towards Chhattisgarh / Odisha instead.
