Bhuj - Junagadh

I'll probably go to Gujarat next February/March. Would like to know if there is a good or bad train connection between Bhuj and Junagadh.

Probably Steven and Alan know a lot about this area.

Many thanks

As far as i know, no direct trains are available from Bhuj-Junagadh. A bus is a better option. The roads in Gujarat are (in general) in good condition and now there are good quality buses that run between most important cities/towns.

For all rail related queries, i suggest one should register with www.irctc.co.in. Not only can you book tickets online from here, you can also find all the info u need on trains.

Hi Sald,

I'm already registered in irtc and have booked several times tickets on line. Sometimes is not very easy to find connections between small towns. Steven Ber and Alan D. sent last 2004 a very good information about train service between Junagadh and Diu with nice anecdotes etc., I was trying to get something similar in this case from Bhuj to Junagadh.

In any case thank you for the information about bus service.

Jorge

You can take a Bus to Rajkot and change to Junagadh there.

Some Bhuj-Rajkot buses (private, booked ahead) go at 5AM,
You get a nice 2-hour lunchbreak at Rajkot which has nice restaurants,
and get to Junagadh at around 5PM.

If you want to see Wakaner on the same day, You`ll arrive at Junagadh at 11PM after a LONG day. not recommended.

I seem to remember a slow passenger train from Gandhidham to Rajkot, but I can't find it now (not that it would be much help), the lines from Bhuj and Rajkot take different routes to Ahmedabad, so even 2 trains would be a very long journey.

A bus to Rajkot sounds like the best option.

I did the same route last winter. Bus is the best option. I took a private run overnight bus directly to Junagadh no need to change. It got in pretty early, as I think it continued on to Diu. About 5:30-6:00am. I think it left around 7-8pm.

Thank you Steven and sbballer33,

Probably I'll do the trip by bus during the day because I prefer to share my time and experiences with Gujarati people and probably to make a break in Wankaner, Rajkot and Gondal even if it takes two days. Actually I'm no more in a hurry.
