Beste season to visit Gujarat?
I'm planning to visit Gujarat during summertime (july and august). How is monsoon in Gujarat in this period? Is it better to visit this area in the beginning or the end? (Planning also to go to Ladakh/ himachal pradesh/Uttarakhand in the same period, so i'm trying to figure out what is the best order to visit these regions)
thanks! |

Monsoon!!!
Dear Leonie,
Gujarat, without rains is sultry. Once it rains it is comparatively more comfortable. So it will all depend on how the rains are going to be this year. If your period is fixed for July August the sequence of the areas that you wish to cover i would say should be Ladhak, Himachal, Uttranchal and last Gujarat. Best wishes. |

Thanks for your fast reply!
I heard some really nasty stories about monsoon in Gujarat, 'everything was so muddy, difficult to move around and so more'. I'm actually not interested in beaches, want to visit some places off the beaten track (mentioned in a other thread). I've been to India four times, all during monsoon, but warnings for monsoon are especially for Gujarat...therefore this question :-) |

On the contrary, accept for south Gujarat the monsoon is very light and that is the reason that roads in Gujarat are better than many other states. And if you time it with the monsoon, it is a new season, less known to many tourists. Have a great time and remember to post some pictures :-)
