Hotel Prince in Bhuj. Out of this world!
My driver had taken over 2.5 hours to drive from Bhuj to Lakhpat, near the Pakistan border. But it took an hour or so less to return to Bhuj, when in Lakhpat I suggested we could lunch at Hotel Prince if we could make it back before the 1pm closing time. "Impossible", he said. Then added, "But Hotel prince is very good".
We ended up with 20 minutes to spare!

Joshi union club at kalbadevi is a gem..most authentic thali i've had other than marriages or functions. Gopi dining in ahmedabad is also upto the mark. I dont like paneer and alu and matar coming into gujarati thalis. Sadly in mumbai or even in gujarat there are very few restaurants which serve authentic gujju thalis.

My experience of good Gujrati Thali at Jalaram Restaurent Verval, near to Bus stand. It was long back in year 2004.
In Rajkot, you can try typical kathiawadi food at Iswariya Post on Jamnagar Highway... Kathiawadi food includes dishes like undhiyu, dhokli nu shaak, rotla, etc.
In Surat,
Embassy hotel near the railway station
Bhatwari
Another gem of a place is in a small town near Anand called VVnagar. The name of the place is Divine. Haven't been there for years but it used to be much cheaper compared to similiar places in Ahemdabad or Surat and the food and service were second to none.
