Baroda to Jaipur
Hi, I am planning to drive from Baroda to Jaipur. Will start from Baroda on Friday at 5 pm and take a night halt and continue to Jaipur the next day.
Question: 1. What route should I follow from Baroda to Jaipur? 2. Where should I stop for the night? Just need a comfortable place. Not very luxurious or anything. Thanks, Ramit Mod Note : Your similar post in the rajasthan forum has been deleted. Please donot multipost. Last edited by nayan : Jun 23rd, 2009 at 17:25. |

Hi Ramit,
Welcome to Indiamike. Baroda - Kapadwanj - Shamlaji - Udaipur - Night Halt at Udaipur Udaipur - Start early morning - Ajmer - Jaipur From Baroda, you dont need to come to A'bad. There are 2 roads which connect to Shamlaji directly. One is via Halol and 2nd via Lunawada ( i think). Both are good roads and you'll be able to make good time. Hope that helps...

Baroda to Jaipur is just around 750km.
Consider adding up on sleep on Friday and driving in one shot to jaipur next day. Else Jay sahab's plan is purrfect

Ramit from Udaipur do not take the NH8, its a very crowded road, lots of truck traffic.
From Udaipur go to Chittorgarh NH76 then Bhilwara, Nasirabad NH79 and then Jaipur NH8. This route you will bypass Ajmer. This road is excellent except chittorgarh city where the bypass is still being constructed. Baroda-Udaipur= 365kms Udaipur-Jaipur= 420kms Though the complete stretch is excellent but its totally upto you weather you wanna do it in one day or break journey at Udaipur. (best choice) |

OK, will this alternate route take lesser time? I am planning to stop for a night in Udaipur for sure.

I can definitely vouch for the NH76 piece - Chittor-Bhilwara-Ajmer (byepass) is excellent - open and empty. Ajmer-Jaipur is 6 lane :O - except for the occasional villager / cart on the road - should be enjoyable. We did Chittor - Jaipur in 5 hours back in 05 in a maruti 800.

The toll is a bit higher on this route i.e. NH76 as compared to NH8 though. But its absolutely worth it. You will love the journey thru the arravallis |
