Ahmedabad to Veraval
I don't want to exceed my question quota for the day, but has anyone taken the overnight sleeper from Ahmedabad to Veraval (11 hours)? Did you regret it? I'm shooting for Diu and was trying to figure out the best way to get there (coming down from Udaipur).
Thanks |

we done it going to Diu first then veraval and then up to Bhuj thenover up and into Rajisthan but s you're coming from there ....actually you could go the reverse direction
By the way the port at veraval is amazing when the fleet is in if a bit smelly tried to hitch a lift onm a boat to Mumbai from there but no luck so headed for Bhuj instead

I travelled on the overnight train to Veraval and it was a cosy, well timed journey, though in the old First Class it always is, there are a couple of connections that will get you to Una (last stop before Delvada and about 11 Kms from Diu) though I wouldn't advise it, the last train was slow and crowded. HOWEVER!!! The line from Ahmedabad to Veraval is still closed for gauge conversion, despite the new 'Trains at a Glance' indicating otherwise, I have checked the 'running status' of the 2 trains that will use that route, one of them does not exist (it will be a new train when the service begins), the other one terminates at Rajkot (to be extended to Veraval when gauge work completed), the info on the 'running status' website is up to date. I am not aware of any plans to introduce an overnight train between Ahmedabad and Veraval, are you looking at an old Trains at a Glance? The 2 services to be introduced after gauge conversion are both daytime trains, the best timed train will depart Ahmedabad at 08:15, then depart Rajkot at 13:15 and arrive at Veraval at 17:10, the train will have 2A, 3A, & SL.

You're right Steve.
There is an Adi VRL Pass, sleeper only train listed on the India Rail Website, but every stop before Dhola Junction has been deleted. It used to leave from Ahmedabad at 22:10 and stumble into Veraval at 12:15 the next day, but no more Thanks for the advice. |
