Hotel Serena It's OK. Pretty average for a city without a big tourist population. I'd probably avoid in the summmer when the rooms get very hot. Good location though. Especially good for the restaurant with the best thalis in India. It's on the rooftop of House of MG, which is 2 minutes walk away from Serena. Their thalis really are incredibly delicious! And if you've got money to spend, stay there too

I just remember finding it impossible to find a decent 'lower' price hotel in town & ended up in a real shit hole I hadn't booked ... so my fault I guess. I think the guide books mentioned a shortage of good value hotels. If you've got $$$$ to spend you might be OK. Please, someone, tell me I'm wrong ??

No unfortunately you're not wrong. Ahmedabad hasn't got very much of anything (apart from traffic!), least of all decent cheap hotels
