Your Absolute Fave Place to Stay in Palolem?
I would love to be at Ciaran's but am afraid I don't think I can afford it.
What are your fave places to stay in Palolem? I'm looking at no more than 1000Rs (though I'd be happy even with something around 200! -- doesn't have to be too splurge-y). Has to be on (or very near) the beach, a double bed + bathroom and electricity. Does not need air conditioning, but that'll be a bonus.
Will be there mid-end May, so that's low season I think.

I never stay in the beach huts skinnylatte but I can assure you at this time of year you'll find exactly what your looking for at a knock down price!!
Kate's, The Xcross, Bridge and Tunnel, Brendans, Dreamcatcher are just a few of the many many options in Palolem!!
There are also some rooms near the beach with attached toilet in and around Flavia's is where to look (the pink house is a good option being near to the sea and in a good location!!) just tell people what your looking for and you'll find what you want!!
By the way it pays to be a little security minded these days in Palolem, as the spectre of petty theft is a growing threat in Palolem ,with many break-ins a feature of this season.........sad but true, money changes everything!!
If you want anymore advice feel free to ask!

Hmm.
I'm looking at something low-mid market. Have you seen the huts at the Cafe del Mar/Sol?

The huts with attached bathroom really don't differ that much from camp to camp and though I haven't seen the huts at cafe del mar I would advise caution, this is also an all night music bar!!
Which might be your thing but it could also spoil your nights sleep!!
Another quieter option would be Sealand in Patnem, which is just 15 minutes walk from Palolem but much quieter.
Having said that Palolem will also be quiet and perhaps there isn't the business to warrent Cafe Del Mar being open all night!!
Anyway don't worry you'll find your spot no worries!

The huts abehind the Cafe del Mar are not too bad. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that in mid May all the coco huts in Palolem start getting dismantled by their owners in preperation for the monsoon. high tide beach resorts located at the southern end of palolem beach are situated on the beach, have attached toilets.i stayed there with my girlfriend in 2005 in the last week of may. they wre one of the only huts that wre open in tht part of the year.however, the huts tht wre open wre made of some pvc sheets which could provide better security and could even withstand the rain i think; unlike bamboo huts which are a very crude way form of housing that are low on security and privacy levels.
for security, u can always carry a lock of ur own. we paid some 300 per night and wre the only occupants of the 5-6 huts that wre available.they didnt have a cafe and u would have to go to other places like cafe del mar to eat n drink.
have fun!

I stayed at Rendez Vous on the south side of the beach in a hut with a bathroom and loved it.
its quiet and the restaurant has a really relaxed feel to it so you can go for a swim and then lounge about for a bit.
i paid 200 rupees a few weeks ago, but while i was there they did mention closing up shop soon as all the tourists were dissapearing.
have a great time wherever you decide to stay, i dont think you can go far wrong in palolem.

I stayed in Pritam cottages. Not on the beach but only a 5 minute walk away, just off the main street beside Casa Fiesta and opp Smuggler's Inn. Nice secure rooms with electricty, cable tv, ensuite and lockable cupboard for the security conscious!! And the owners are always on site checking to see whos walking in and out..
Quiet at night as well.
I paid 600 rupees/night last week (late March/April)
