Where to stay in North or South Goa
Hi All,
I am new to the site and actually have never been to Goa, so could really do with some advice. I am hoping to land in Goa on 28/12/06 and knowing its the peak season would like to get some accomodation sorted out. I was thinking of staying in North Goa upto the new year and then travel down to the south on the 2nd to 6th jan. My thinking is that the first few days will be filled by the whole NYE party vibe and the 2-6th Jan will be more relaxed and chilled out. Do you think going NOrth first and then south would be a good idea? What I am looking for are beach huts where you can hear the ocean at night while you sleep (I know perhaps not the most original idea but never done it before) The less touristy the better, but I know it is also peak season so may not have much choice in that depart. Any advice on where to stay in north and south goa would be appreciated. Thanks, Silver Smurf |

i'm not sure how well you'll do with the 'the less touristy the better' sentiment in goa, since it's pretty overrun with tourists. that doesn't mean it's all bad though.
all in all, i'd say that south goa is more chilled out, not quite as busy and with a smaller party scene than north goa so, if you are intending to party hard for new years it might be a good idea to plan to do that up north and then to head down south for some relaxing? if you head to palolem/patnem (south), i recommend staying at the bhakti kutir (http://www.bhaktikutir.com/index.html) - it's just inbetween palolem and patnem beaches and, although it is set back a bit from the actual beachfront, you'll still hear the waves. as far as beaches in the south go - agonda is comparatively quiet and nice, and you still get a bit of the 'local feel' that people complain is no longer there in goa. there are only a few places to stay on agonda beach (haven't tried any sorry) + there's also a very trippy restaurant/bar called 'the turtle lounge', which is highly recommended. happy planning. a |

Thanks Evilnyberg, I saw the accomodation in palolem via search engines. It looks really nice. Probably will do North then south, everything I have read suggests that aswell.
Naturecrazy, I will check out other forums, ta |
