Where to stay in North Goa

Hi guys,

I'm going to be in Goa from 28th Dec to the 1st Jan. I'm mostly interested in hitting a few raves and maybe clubs and getting a good 31st night experience. Can anyone recommend where I should stay.

My lonely planet recommends Vagator for the partying but I cant find any accomodation there. Could anyone recommend some places to stay around there. Email addies, websites or contact numbers would be great. All I'm looking for is a bed. Shared bathroom, no air-con is all fine. Cheapness comes first

Any advice would be much appreciated

Stay around Baga or Calangute, which is almost the same thing. Baga is know more for it's nightlife while Calangute get's quiet, but as I said, it's like the same place. You can always take a taxis to places in Vagator or Anjuna. Taxis to Anjuna will cost you around 300 Rs. Because of the new year, it will be hard trying to find places, but if it's the north, your best best is Baga or Calangute. I'm back there in February, so it'll be quieter. Happy hunting.

The Anjuna Palms guesthouse should be your first choice. It is cheap and clean and the owner is very honest. If you have any problems just PM me and I can sort them out.

Thanks guys.

GoanCanuck. The Pm'ing system hasn't yet been enabled on my account. Could you post the contact details for Anjuna palms. Email or a website would be great but a phone contact would work well too.

Much appreciated.

Checked out both anjuna palms and sunset cottages. Both are full over the required days. I've been knocked back from about 20 places now. I think I'm in deep trouble. It seems every place is either full or doesn't want to do advance bookings. They tell me to show up and see if a room is free on the day but I don't really trust my luck to do that. Any advice guys?

No idea where in Goa you want to go but you should be able to find something when you show up on Dec 17.

I'm considering trying to find something in Panjim. I was hoping someone could tell me what it will be like to get between panjim and the beach resorts for the raves/clubs. If transport is poor or horribly expensive I'll continue trying to find something on the beaches but if its pretty easy to (for example) get up to calangute to go clubbing and then get transport back to panjim at night I may try to stay in panjim.

BTW - I'm sort of referring to public transport but info on using scooters and autorickshaws is relevant as well.

Thanks guys

The public transport system in Goa shuts down at around 9:30PM and starts again at 6AM. Autorickshaws do not ply between Panjim and Calangute. You will either have to rent a motorcycle/scooter or take a taxi which are available in plenty even late at night.

I can get you a place to stay even over Christmas and New year regardless of what the hotels are telling you.

Since you are unable to send a PM, I am going to request the moderator to send you a PM with my email address and we can carry on this conversation.
