Where are the best places to go sightseeing on a scooter?
It will be my third time in Goa this April and i have yet to get on a scooter driven by my good self due to always being distracted by Kingfishers. Well this time i need to get on a scooter and explore a bit. Where are the hidden gems and off the beaten track sights? Both North and South Goa please.
Dave, I done a fair bit of travelling on a scooter a while back. Both north and south Goa. Did'nt feel very safe though. Would'nt you consider maybe stepping up to a Hero Honda. A bit more stable and responsive. Hope you'll think about a good helmet too.
I'm sure you'll know the score anyway. Where have you visted so far??

The north is awful crowded with lot's of traffic, so if your not confident, I would stick to the south around Palolem for biking.
Around Palolem, you could take the trip up to Agonda, a nice short ride and then continue on to Cabo de Rama which is a very scenic and lonely ride and then continue up to Betul where there's a nice hotel and restaurant called the Seagull right on the water with the fishing boats passing right in from of you. An excellent place to eat and have a beer or spend the night if you choose.
South of Palolem you could bike around the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary on miles and miles of empty roads and never see another car.
You could take a very nice ride to the very south of Goa to Polem beach passing lots of very beautiful scenery.
I would just go everywhere and explore when I bike there. Take every road, dirt or sealed towards the coast and hopefully find a secluded beach. Which many times I did.
Once you get off of NH17 in the south you will probably have most roads to yourself.
Alot of places I wish I could say how to get to but I just don't know how to say it so you would really understand.
Just take off and explore. That's what I did.
And biking around Goa with my friends I made there was the best time I had there. It's a must. You see things and places you would never see otherwise.

Tamdi Surla temple, and Tamdi falls in south Goa.
If you go as far as Keri, take the ferry across to Tiracol and explore Redi beach on other side.
But as someone has said, buy a small pocket map, fill the bike up and go explore, get lost, and have some fun.
Buddhist caves near arvalem waterfalls are worth a visit.

Hindu temples and Sahakari spice farm, Ponda. http://www.sahakarifarms.com/ , Old Goa, Panjim. You are required by law to wear a helmet on highways. Get an international licence to avoid hassle.

Haven't been to Palolem area as yet, but would love to do a trip with Palolem / Agonda as base & explore surrounding areas with a scooter.
Ronak.
Ronak.
You could go upto chapora fort near vagator beach, hike up there for some fabulous views of the sea and river below ...
The drive up to fort aguada and the views of the bay from there is also very good.
