Where after Goa?

I'm currently in North Goa and plan to work my way down to the south. After that I want to explore Kerala but it is a fair jump between the two states. I don't want to miss anything of interest out and would like to break up the train/bus journey between the two places. Does anyone have any suggestions of places I should visit?

Thanks for any help!!

You'd be passing through Karnataka between Goa - Kerela. If you're going by bus/car (and that's what you should do), I'd suggest including Jog falls, Udupi, Kudremukh and Mangalore on your way or choosing any one/two of these. But don't misss Kudremukh!

(If I had a way to ping another user while responding to threads, I'd be pinging Sudheer now. He's the Bangalore expert. Maybe your should PM him)

How about a few days in Hampi? Really unique, fantastic place. It's off your route a bit but it's well worth it.

You can get an overnight bus from Mapusa (there's a train, too, I think but don't know the details) and then afterwards get a train from nearby Hospet to Kerala.

I'd really recommend Hampi if you've never been before - I loved the week or so I spent there.

Forget the bus and stick to the train. The bus journey sucks big time.

I would strongly recommend Om beach and Gokarna. These beaches are far superior to the beaches in Goa. check this http://www.redtailcanyon.com/items/481840.aspx

1. Take a bus from Madgoan to Cancona, you can visit Paloliem beach. Then take a bus and travel to Karwar, which is in Karnataka, approx 100 kms south of Madgaon. The beaches are cleaner and less crowded. You could then take a bus to Gokarna and vist the beaches there too. Less crowded. Take a train from Gokarna Road (Verva-Mangalore Passenger) and travel to Mangalore.(you will reach around 9.00 p.,m.) Spend a day in Mangalore (do not miss the frescoes at St. Aloysius College Chapel). Take a bus/train to Kerala from Mangalore.
2 You could take a train directly from Madgoan to Kerala.

Thanks

Many thanks for all your help.

I'm currently in Hampi and you are right the bus journey did suck.

I'm off to Gorkana next, it's bloody hot here and I need the sea again.

After that I'm not sure but your info has been really handy.

Thanks again!
