Whats the word? New Years parties banned or not

Hi guys,

so i'm confused (as per usual!) are raves/parties/doof doof's call them what you will, be illegal this new years 2007/2008?

I'm guessing if they are there will still be some 'underground' ones going on.

But I've been reading contradicting reports all over the interwebs and I was wandering if anyone here new for sure?

My girlfriend and I will be hitting India in a couple of months and part of our 6 months trip will be Goa, Vagator to be precise for Christmas and New Years - so wouldn't mind have a little bit of a boogie to bring in 2008 - if its as quiet as a convent then we don't mind too much but would be a little disappointed.

anyway, thanks and we look forward to your guys comments

p.s. counting down the hours till we fly out of New Zealand 1month 28days and 22hours

Hey Sneak,

I'm wondering the same thing.

Just want to do the new years eve bender, then leave it for the rest of the trip.

Its the same situation every year with the Govt. threatening to crack down on the parties but theres always some around Christmas/NYE.
I really wouldnt be dissapointed if there were'nt any as they're quite mediocre commercial affairs anyway. Nothing compared to say the "Rainbow Serpent" festival in Australia or other parties around the world.

as i had posted in the other thread 'places to dance or party...':

I was in goa this past new year's...went to the Shalom lounge in Calangute which had Midival Punditz playing live (an ethno-fusion band, was amazing, complete with vocals and live tabla and flute)...after their performance DJ Cheb i-Sabbah played more music, chilled-out, ethnic tunes on the turntables...crowd was great, it was 2 nights before new year's eve and the whole event was FREE...that was by far the highlight, as the other places i went to were just the super-fast trance music with people dancing out of control...but the club Utopia was pretty cool (besides the music)...the dancing was all outdoors, at the foot of the beach, in an enclosed space...dancefloor was a mix of concrete and beach sand...cool vibe, got there at 2am and stayed until 5, and it was still going...another place we went to was somewhere in the middle of the forest near anjuna, and this was a full out rave...have no clue exactly where it was (taxi drivers know) and i remember entry was around 1000 Rs....

I'm going back this new year's, i'm hoping i can catch more ethnic fusion events, live or otherwise...DJ Cheb i-Sabbah played at the guesthouse/restaurant Bean Me Up in Anjuna last Xmas day as well, everyone that went to that said it was great...

Cheb I Sabbah makes great music. I am fortunate to be nearby where he spins records once a week in San Francisco!

Hey Akhenaton..I went to Shaloms!..unfortunately not that night..remember the food being quite good but more that it was a good place to hang out with friends sharing a hookah after the meal..the place in the forest near Anjuna..could it have been the Dolce Vita?
