Wedding In Goa

Hi all, new here and I was wondering if anyone knew how reputable some of the wedding planners in Goa are? I'm in the midst of planning my wedding with a company called golden aisle but I was hoping for some feedback. The scary part is that our wedding planner wants copies of our passports and birth certificates etc. Is that normal procedure?

The wedding is in January. Hope to see some of you there.

Hello MsD and welcome to indiamike.com

I can't help at all, but having just been to Goa, and previously to Diu, I'm wondering how much cheaper a wedding would be in Diu?

I'd take a wild guess that a wedding in Diu would cost about 70% of the cost of the same in Goa.

Sorry, just thinking with my fingertips.

Very best of luck for your upcoming wedding, and hope you enjoy the planning.

my fiance and I met in Goa while on seperate vacations after a failed engagement to each other about a year earlier. Needless to say we were both stunned and now happily back togther. Goa has a very special place in our hearts but thanks for the suggestion!!

If you want to get legally married (as opposed to a register office wedding in your own country and a ceremony in goa)in Goa, then yes, I guess so. I have no idea how this works as Indian law requires one of you to be resident and to post notice of the wedding 30 days in advance.

But I understand that Goa weddings are becoming big business both for foreigners and Indians from other states. The wedding planners must know what they are doing ---- one hopes! As in any business, I'm sure there's good, bad and indifferent.

This is a topic that crops up, if not often, regularly on IndiaMike and it would be interesting and useful to others to hear more from you guys.

Well... Found Golden Aisle's website, and here is the page on the legal requirements. Seems you have to be there for 15 days.

Sounds rather complicated compared to my own Indian marriage --- but that was a very unromantic Register Office wedding that cost just a few rupees (we had our own ceremony/party afterwards), and I was marrying a resident Indian citizen.

Copies shouldn't be a problem. Just do it. I did. My planner was my fiance and my late redoubtable mother in law..

If you have the money, you can always book a wedding planner to come down from Bombay.
