Wave Size & Yet 1 more internet question

I'm currently doing my research to decide if Goa is the right place for me to live for a while. I'm currently in Russia and am ready for a nice warm break.

I have a couple of questions I haven't seen covered (or at least not thoroughly):

1. What are the wave sizes on the beaches? I'm no surfer (yet), but like to boogey board and have fun in the surf. Can I do that, or is Goa more Medditerrenian than Hawaii?

2. I have an online business so will need a high speed internet connection from the start.

a. Are there cafes where I can get wifi access for my laptop?

b. How long will it take to get a dsl line installed in an apartment when I find one to rent?

c. How reliable is the dsl? Does it go out often? How long does the power go down for when it goes down?

That's a lot of questions to start with, sorry.

Goa is not exactly a surfers paradise. The waves tend to be gentle although in the monsoon months of June, July and August the waves are nasty and the sea is very rough.

There are a couple of places with WiFi but the speeds are not fast by European standards.

As a tourist it is not possible for you to get a DSL conncetion in your name. The connection will have to be in the name of the landlord and the landlord will have to agree to apply for a conncetion. Not all landlords will do so.

This can be tricky. Depends on where the apartment is located. Anwhere from 1 week to 1 month to maybe never.

The speed of The DSL is only 256kb/s and the power does go out often. Sometimes the outage could be for a few minutes and sometimes for several hours.

Thank you for the detailed answers.

I guess without surf that only leaves waterskiing.
