Visas for Goa

being a Pakistani, i've heard tales of Goa's beauty...however i wasn't granted a visa for Goa by the Indian High commission in Pakistan. Is there a possibility that i could get visa once i'm in India.... or is it included in the restricted/cantonment areas?

Goa requires a special permit/visa?

Is it a special requirement for pakistani citizens?

If you have been barred from visiting Goa (the visa is Indian, but Goa may be banned for Pakistani citizens, I don't know for sure) it may be because the Navy has a presence there.

Guessing.

Doubt you would get a permit in India if this was indeed the reason.

You've been told wrong. Goa is part of India and no permission by Indians or even foreigners who have a Indian visa (except Pakistanis?) is neccessary.

I don't know how the permit system works for Pakistani citizens. If it says you can only visit the places you mention, then I guess that is it.

Idle google, dunno how accurate the site is, maybe you need to check at the Indian embassy site or something

Dated May 18 this year

Quote:
India and Pakistan are perhaps the only two countries that issue city-specific visas to one another's nationals. Travelling to any place, however close by, outside of the one or two cities for which the visa is valid is illegal.

While you will need a visa that includes the city you will be flying into, it is almost impossible for the govt authorities to track you once you are in India. So, while in India you could visit Goa. However, if you plan to fly domestically, you will need a photo ID. A Pakistani passport will raise questions.

However, do note that it will be illegal if you, as a Pakistani, travel to cities not authorized in your visa. I have no idea what the penalties are.

Well, I would strongly advice against this. If you were of some other nationality and were caught doing something wrong of bigger magnitude, it wouldn't have mattered a lot...

However having a Pakistani passport, and indulging in something illegal, may god be your savior..

Whatever you do....... Please just dont visit any place without permission because if police found it you must be ready to spend some years of your life in jail.....

After the ahemdabad blasts secaurity is very tight and be sure to do only what you are asked to do..........

First take official permission and only then visit GOA.....

Goa is presently on terrorist "red alert". There is an increased armed police and military presence, even in the monsoon. They're doing an increased amount of roadblocks, stop and searches, and visiting lodges, guest houses, hotels and private houses to check guest registers.

It is now a legal requirement to show photographic identity when checking in anywhere, and you are supposed to report yourself to the local police station.

With the recent Muslim/Hindu riots in Margao, the curfews and lathi charges, tensions are fairly high. perhaps not the best time to be there without a permit? Your choice.

From the bureau of Immigration website:
Quote:
Pakistan nationals other than those on Diplomatic visa are required to carry a Visa application form (duplicate copies) which will be issued in addition to regular visa on their passport by the Indian Mission concerned. On presentation at immigration check post, they are issued Regular Residential Permit and are required to report at the designated office or concerned Police Station in their places of stay within 24 Hrs unless and until they are officially exempted from police reporting .
I have no idea what this means in practice, and I hope Cyrus or other members will update us on their experiences.

No, it doesn't apply to everyone (foreigners): the form you fill in at the hotel is all you do, and it has always required your passport details, so one could say that photo-identity has always been required.

Moksha? Are you including Indian Citizens in that?
