Vasco da Gama and Hotel La Paz Gardens
Hi,
Anybody been to Vasco da Gama? Is it an alright place? Planning to stay 2 days there in Dec. Chose this place coz by the time I shall reach Vasco, I would have had my fill of beaches in other places. I am planning to stay in Hotel La Paz Gardens. I found no review of this hotel anywhere on the net. Any ideas anybody? SS |

Why Vasco in particular? Panaji is a nice city to wander around. If you are thru with beaches give the wild life sanctuary a try.

Was in Vasco for a month many years ago. Havent been back since.
Umm, there are better non-beachy places in Goa. Jyotirmoy's sanctuary is one. The hilly areas and the Dudhsagar waterfalls are another. |

I stayed in Vasco last year at hotel Vasco Residency. Not very much to attract tourists, but that's its charm. Had a great time wandering the markets and industrial areas without seeing hordes of feringhees. My main reason for going there was to catch the early morning train to Hospet on the way to Hampi. The station was a short walk from the hotel. Vasco does have a beach, but it's not your usual sun and surf. More like a half mile long latrine with plump porkers everywhere vacuuming up the waste.
Probably not a good place to go wandering alone at night as it's known for its red light district and Indian mafia. During the day it provided quite a few chances for unique photos and seemed safe enough. ![]() http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...00/ppuser/2115 http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...00/ppuser/2115 http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...00/ppuser/2115 http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...00/ppuser/2115 http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...00/ppuser/2115 Wanderer22 |
