Cool Varca Palms Hotel

Hi there, just wanted to know if anyone has stayed here recently. We are off there in Feb 07 and I have read a couple bad reviews and I am a little concerned as we are going there with our 6 year old son. I have been to India before so I know the standards differ with the west but if anyone has any first hand info it would be most welcome. Also, how far from this hotel is it to the next resort/shacks/things to do in the evening etc. Thanks in advance.x

Cool

Hi there. We stayed at this hotel about four years ago but it has since had a complete refurb, we took a stroll down there when we visited in February. The refurb is lovely and the gardens are really nice, I think the poolside bungalows are lovely, better than the rooms in the main hotel. You are a short stroll through the gardens to the lovely Varca beach, which has three or four good shacks, two of which I can recommend ~ Capricorn (run by Monica and her family), and Chikitas. Cavelossim is a short taxi ride away, there are lots of great restaurants there, such as Gaffinos, Palm Grove, Mike's Place, Riverview and Sao Domingos. The list is endless. The walk from Varca beach to Cavelossim beach takes about 45 minutes, passing a few shacks along the way. Suggest you take plenty water with you. Walking north along Varca beach will bring you to Benaulim.

Just relax and enjoy, you'll have a great time.

Ignore on line reviews, they tend to be posted by people who've had a bad time (travel trade opinion, not mine). Any trip is what you make of it, so go with an open mind. Just remember, a few years ago we didn't have access to all of this information, yet our holidays were no less enjoyable.

Thanks Mr Pastry, that was the mind that I was intending to go with, so thankyou for reinforcing that! I won't read any more reviews as the good ones never reach the internet do they.

I'm looking forward to it now!!!!!
