Trying to contact a local school in Goa
First of all, I just want to say that I am really enjoying this forum and gaining really great insight into India. Thanks for all your replies too. Anyway I am a 6th grade teacher in California at an affiliated International Baccalaureate school that focuses on creating a peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. My husband and I will be traveling to Goa on vacation from November 17-26 and my goal is to possibly set up a "cultural exchange" with my students and students at a local school in Goa. Basically what I would be doing is bringing letters and postcards from my students to theirs. I have done this before when we traveled to Panama and Indonesia and the students love seeing the pictures of other students opening their cards across the world.
I have only found 3 local schools with an email and I tried emailing them and their email is either full, it doesn't go through or I haven't received a response. I was wondering if any of you are a teacher or know of a teacher or a school that would be interested in this. If you don't want to post their email you can email me at eknight77@yahoo.com. Well thanks in advance. |

eknight - Welcome to India Mike!
My thought is if you don't get a contact with regard to a local school from any of our Goa members, when you come to Goa yourself, ask, where you are staying, the folks to help you with suitable schools. My guess is you will need an English medium school so the children will have a common language in which to communicate, and you will need the age group similar to your class. Go in person and visit the school and put your proposal to the Principal. Bring the cards and letters with you, even if you haven't got a school in mind before you leave. I am sure you will personally be able to make a contact this way.

Thanks you Aishah, that is exactly what I was planning on doing if I didn't make contact prior. Thanks for responding.
